Frequently asked

Weddings

What happens if we have poor weather on our wedding day?

I have photographed in almost any Australian weather condition you can think of, from 45 degree heat waves to icy 2 degree days of fog, flood and storms. Of course, I have photographed many, many perfect days too! No matter the weather conditions, I know we can capture some beautiful photos.

How Long before i we get our Wedding images?

Two to three days after your wedding I like to send you some sneak peeks, perfect for sharing on Facebook etc. Then I ask that you allow me approximately 4 to 6 weeks.  I personally edit each and every photo.  The wait is well worth it, and I keep in touch with you to let you know how it is all going. It is important to us that you get the job done right, and not compromised.

Why are some Photographers Cheaper?

‘Newbies’ use weddings to get experience and use low end equipment. Afterwards they quickly transfer images to a disk with little or no editing, and that’s if they even turn up! Your wedding is certainly not the time to take a risk. Did you know if your wedding photos are poor quality it can actually be a bad start to a marriage according to some psychologists?

I’ve found a cheaper photographer, do you price match?

No I don’t price match. Photogaphy done right, requires quality equipment. My prices have been very carefully selected to cover all costs involved in running a professional & legitimate business, to deliver the highest quality photos with enough time & love, to support the high quality outcomes expected for such an occasion.

What equipment do you use?

I use a variety of cameras! I shoot with Nikon D850 and D810, along with a range of Pro lenses including the amazing 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8, 24-70 and 70-200.  I also have a couple of pro flashes, but prefer to use natural & ambient light where possible. Flashes come out later for reception fun or to add a little fill. Or some backlighting magic.

Portraiture

What clothing would you recommend?

Choose a colour palette that suits your family or your family home. For example, if you prefer cooler colours you could incorporate this into the outfits, without everyone having one colour
Avoid logos and graphics prints that might be a bit distracting to the family portrait.

Are you able to tailor a shoot to suit our needs?

Absolutley yes! We know that eveyone is an individual and requies something that is meaningful to them or suits a particular purpose.

We do everying we can to ensure you are happy with the session and it creates the images you need

What about my hair on the day?

The week (or day) before a photo session is definitely the wrong time to get an experimental do! If possible, get haircuts at least a week before the shoot in a style you like. It might take a few days to grow into  a haircut. This buffer allows for some growth, tweaks and perfection.

What kind of light do we need to take the photos?

In short, natural light. We are well prepared both inside and out to create the perfect light for those times when conditions are not perfect.

We use off camera flash and LED panels regularly and we also have a full studio lighting set-up that is completely mobile, ie: we can bring the studio to you

How much time should we allow for planning?

A quick ten-minute chat over the telephone is enough for most to get the key questions addressed. However should we get together a little early before the shoot to go over any last minute questions or adjustmetns needed to ensure you are comfortable

What Happens if we lose our images?

Don’t worry. I keep full backups for at least five years, both onsite and offsite at another location.

Also every couple now gets a FREE Digital Wedding Album (stored in the cloud) and you can always download copies whenever you want. We have you covered!

Maternity

what should I wear to my maternity session?

Plan to remove any tight clothing or with elastic at least two hours prior to your session to avoid marks on your body. Try to wear a loose fitting dress to keep your skin smooth.

Anything that accentuates your pregnant belly is suitable. Stretchy or lace materials are perfect. During your consult we will discuss the style of shoot you want and talk about what to wear in further detail.

can i include family in the images?

I encourage it!. Having your family be a part of your session will allow me to create more family orientated images where they can show their love for your unborn baby.  However, if you bring younger children and want partner only photos, you will need another adult to watch the kids!

can i suggest or bring images of poses i like?

Yes of course! This is your maternity session. I will guide you and suggest ideas about posing, looks, locations and props but you are more then welcome to send me anything that inspires you. I encourage you to create a pinterest board that you can share with me. Visual ideas are so much easier to understand and discuss. Please keep in mind though that it is only inspiration and your images are unique to you

when is the best time to do my maternity shoot?

I like to schedule your Maternity session between 34 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. By this stage your baby belly will have that wonderful round shape, perfect for beautiful looking photographs.

After the 36th week, most mum to be’s tend to feel uncomfortable and fatigued during their session so it is a matter of finding the right balance for you.

do you have any extra tips for my photoshoot?

It is SO important to select a day where you have nothing else planned. Having to rush between events causes stress which can show in the final images. Have lots of time to prepare and get plenty of rest. If you have the means, perhaps treat your self to a massage.. Keep hydrated and have a light snack before the session
